Babysitting 101 (Ages 11-15)Summer - LearnThis course follows the American Academy of Pediatrics – Babysitter Lessons And Safety Training (BLAST). Students learn current practices for safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants, how to handle behavior problems, and how to manage their babysitting business. Beginner to Intermediate Violin, Piano, Ukulele or Guitar Lessons (Ages 6+)Summer - LearnLearn to play the violin, guitar, ukulele, or piano. Bring your instrument and receive instruction from a professional Prairiegrass Band member! Lessons are 30-minutes, 1-on-1 Private. The instructor will contact families prior to the first lesson. It offers practice of previously learned concepts to keep skills sharp and build confidence. You will receive a pretest to determine math skills and individualize your program, then get ten weeks of lessons. Math-By-Mail: Middle/High School Prep (Grades 6-9)Summer - LearnIt’s Back! Keep young minds active with the locally developed Math-By-Mail curriculum. Math practice accompanied by enrichment activities for the upcoming summer months, created by current middle school math teachers with 45+ years of combined experience! Minnesota State Standards, Math Frameworks MCA strands, and current Minnesota Benchmarks are the foundation for this curriculum. With creative problem solving, multiple-choice, short answers, and vocabulary embedded into an 8-week course of independent study, students will maintain or increase their math understanding level. While improving their math understanding level, students will also be reviewing the recommended targets suggested by grade level in the Minnesota School Academic Standards for mathematics. Each student will be given a pretest to assess the appropriate skill level necessary to strengthen their individual math needs, unlike other programs that are exclusively grade level driven. Students will receive an 8-lesson packet to complete at their own pace throughout the summer. MathSpire Algebra & Geometry (Gr. 5-9) Live VirtualSummer - LearnAccelerated students are encouraged to join our Middle School courses: Introduction to Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. These carefully curated online courses extend Pre-Algebra topics into a broader application of algebraic and geometric theory. Students will have the opportunity to explore challenging concepts through modeling and exploring real-world applications. These courses prepare students to excel in the Middle and High School Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 credit courses. In addition, our training will prepare students for state and national standardized tests including the MCA, MAP, CLEP(College Level Examination Program), The Aspire (ACT), ACT, pre SAT Examinations, SAT, and SAT Mathematics Subject Tests. Academic Excellence online courses provide materials including videos, notes, daily webwork, and practice problems. Each student progresses through the course at their own pace, while retaining the opportunity to ask instructors questions during breakout sessions and scheduled office hours. During the scheduled online review sessions, students work closely with instructors to prepare for graded assignments, chapter exams, and cumulative finals. Our online classroom allows for video, voice, and text interaction with instructors, as well as screen-sharing and whiteboard technology to make the experience engaging and personal to each student.
