Considering starting your own business? Learn from experienced business professionals, both active and retired, who can provide individual assistance if desired. Presented by SCORE (volunteers from south metro communities) and a partner of the U.S. Small Business Administrations (SBA), this comprehensive series of four workshops will help you to make a smart start. 

Startup Basics: Test a business idea and identify the key factors that influence startup success. Gain an overview of the skills and tools needed when deciding to start a business, advantages and disadvantages of owning a business, the most profitable form for specific businesses and the fundamentals of formation, organization, marketing, cash flow and funding sources. 

SCORE - Jim Gasper

Jim Gasper has been a mentor with SCORE since 2015 and has also served as chapter chairman and has led the education committee for the chapter. Jim grew up on a farm and learned many of his lessons in operating a small business from that experience. His 37 years of business experience involved farming, manufacturing, trucking, airlines and health care industries and he primarily served in information technology roles ranging from systems analysis to senior leadership. Jim has assisted SCORE clients with starting and growing their business specifically with business planning, human resources, marketing and in developing their financial projections and analysis. Jim’s educational background includes a bachelor of science in Industrial Engineering and master’s in business administration.
