  • Antique Appraisal Event

    Have you ever wondered what your family heirlooms are worth? Join us for a thirty-minute appraising presentation followed by an appraisal of at least one item per participant. You'll be assigned a 10-minute time slot in the order you registered to have your item appraised. Once everyone has had their item valued, Antique Appraiser David Schlueter will examine additional items as time allows. Examples of items that can be appraised are antiques, fine jewelry, costume jewelry, precious gemstones, all art, and coins. This is for items you can easily carry in, no firearms or Beanie Babies. Please name the one item you would like appraised on the registration form and email a photo and description to jnagy@plsas.org at soon as possible. Coffee and treats will be provided.

Rehydrating is just as important too, so come learn some of the tricks to having tacos, stews, chicken and veggies in the back country.

Originating from Taiwan, and in its basic form, this drink consists of sweetened black tea, milk, ice, and chewy tapioca pearls, all shaken together and served with a fat straw to accommodate the marbles of tapioca that cluster at the bottom of the cup. Shaking introduces the milk bubbles and the pearls add to the beauty of this high end, popular drink. Variations can include Classic, Taro, Brown Sugar, Fruit filled, and many more. This hands-on class will introduce you to how to make this drink at home, including how to make the tapioca pearls and adjust it to your personal taste. 2 different drinks will be made per person.

Start with carving an original design (or choose from a selection of symbols/imagery) into a cuttlebone to create negative space, pour lead-free pewter into your cuttlebone mold, finish with hand tools and choose from metal/wood/stone bases or wearable hardware.     Glass mosaic sounds like a challenging art form however in this class you will learn how it can be fun and easy! Look through the idea book, browse the patterns and stencils and choose from dozens of colors of pre-cut glass. With the help from the instructor, you will create a colorful end product. The first evening will be designing and attaching the glass to your project. The second night is using grout, so make sure to dress for a mess and bring some old towels.
