Discuss how to finance your business, accounting, banking relations and monthly preparation and review of financial statements.
  • Custom Glass Mosaic: Photo Frame or Sign (Ages 12+ or 8+ w/Adult) - NEW!

    Glass mosaic sounds like a challenging art form however in this class you will learn how it can be fun and easy! Look through the idea book, browse the patterns and stencils and choose from dozens of colors of pre-cut glass. With the help from the instructor, you will create a colorful end product. The first evening will be designing and attaching the glass to your project. The second night is using grout, so make sure to dress for a mess and bring some old towels.
  • De-Age Your Brain

    Current research shows lifestyle and diet have a big effect on HOW the brain ages. Cognitive function, which covers all aspects of perceiving, thinking and reasoning, CAN improve. And the very good news is no matter what your age there are things you can begin to do today to improve how quickly and effectively brain cells communicate with each other. We’ll discuss which ‘superfoods’ reduce the damaging effects of toxins and inflammation on the brain and which nutrients are great for memory, attention, processing information and reducing stress. You will learn simple, easy to implement strategies to help your brain stay healthy and alert.
  • Flow (Vinyasa) Yoga (Ages 15+)

    This class connects movement to breath in a sequence of yoga poses that flow together. Both mental and physical wellness will be addressed with decreased stress and increased flexibility and strength. This class can be tailored to your own pace, so all fitness levels will benefit. However, it is recommended that students in this class are able to get up and off the floor unassisted to participate.
  • Free Indoor Walk/Run at Prior Lake High School

    The indoor walking track in the PLHS Activity Center will be open most evenings for those who wish to walk or run at their own pace for cardiovascular and fitness benefits during cold weather conditions. Preregistration is required. You will be put on our email list to receive notifications of changes and no walk/run dates, please add the registration to your shopping cart and check out. This course is free, you will not be charged. Find and scan the QR code to check-in each time you attend. Please stay on Activity Center Track. There will be no walking in other areas of the school. Janice will teach you her famous “10 Minute Miracle Exercise” series to strengthen lower body muscles quickly and, in the process, increase metabolism and bone density; decrease 2” off saddlebag area in 2 weeks; trim inches off lower body by getting rid of excess water weight; breathing techniques to stimulate fat metabolism; acupressure points for your lymph circulation and drainage. If you don’t have time/money/inclination to haul your self to a gym several times a week, you will love these powerful and effective techniques.

Then follow along and create a wonderful meal with them that will have your family asking for more! Make it a date night or family night as you create lasting memories in your kitchen! Have your questions answered by the instructor, interact with other participants as you cook along, and increase your confidence in the kitchen with each skill that is learned, and each little bit of advice and instruction that is shared.     *Note: Class dates have changed. Have you ever wanted to take a yoga class, but didn’t feel comfortable? Or, do you have pain or an injury and you don’t know if yoga will hurt or help? Come and take this introductory session! The instructor is both a licensed Physical Therapist and a Registered Yoga Teacher. In this class, you will learn yoga poses and principles that can help with stress, flexibility, strength and posture. Modifications and advancements will be shown which makes this class open to all. It is recommended that participants can get up and down from the floor unassisted. Please bring a yoga mat and a water bottle.

Or that no matter how many crunches you do, your stomach still hangs out? Getting rid of a potbelly is much more than just doing abdominal exercises. In this workshop, you will learn the main causes and 6 strategies for getting rid of belly bloat. We will do a few exercises designed to strengthen the deepest layer of abdominal muscle - the layer that is responsible for flattening your stomach, shaping your waistline and supporting your lower back. And we will do this without getting on the floor.

    Take the mystery and fear out of growing and cooking with herbs—basil, dill, cilantro, lavender, rosemary, thyme, sage, tarragon, —to name a few. Taste and smell the flavors of these herbs, and discover the role these flavors have when added to everyday or special dishes and cuisines. In this make-and-take class, we will discuss herbs, what to do with them and plant a full pot for your patio or to set by your back door to use for cooking all summer long! Come with questions or ideas to share! Since we are working with soil, please dress appropriately or bring an apron and gloves.
  • Lifeguard-BL Certification (Ages 15+)

    This class is designed to train one to become a Red Cross Lifeguard. This class will be taught in a blended model which includes seven hours of online content to be completed prior to in-person sessions. Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 15 years; Swim-Tread-Swim sequence: swim 150 yards continuously using front crawl, breast stroke, or a combination of both, next tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs, and then swim 50 yards continuously using front crawl, breast stroke, or a combination of both. Lastly, complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point exit the water without using steps or a ladder. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years.     Adult men are welcome to come and play recreational basketball on pickup teams. It’s a great workout and builds cardiovascular efficiency. This program is on-going throughout the year.
